Heathfield Summer School offers three weekly trips: one full-day and one half-day excursion plus one evening or late afternoon trip.

Each summer course includes two trips to London with different destinations on each. In addition to a bus or river tour, the day might include the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace; the Tower of London; St Paul’s Cathedral; Parliament Square & Big Ben; Covent Garden Market and one of London’s many great museums or galleries: the British Museum, the Victoria & Albert Museum, the National Gallery, the Tate Modern, the Science or Natural History Museum.

Offering unique opportunities to explore British culture and history and by taking part in the wide range of activities, we know your daughter will enjoy a fantastic summer holiday at Heathfield’s Summer School.

London

England’s exciting and vibrant capital city offers a thrilling day out for our students. Taking in iconic sights including the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament as well as great museums and galleries, this full-day trip is a highlight of our Summer School.

Windsor

Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world. Founded by William the Conqueror in the 11th century, it has since been the home of 40 monarchs.

The castle is situated on the edge of Windsor Great Park where students will discover a Royal history spanning over 1,000 years, including historical monuments and ancient forests. Students will also visit the site of the signing of the Magna Carta in 1215 in Runnymede.

Oxford

The cosmopolitan and bustling city of Oxford is most famous for its 12th century university, still a world-leading place of learning and research.

The beautiful medieval architecture, museums and shopping opportunities make this a popular option for our international students.

Bath

The stunning and historic World Heritage City of Bath is a fantastic day out.

Famous for its carefully preserved Roman Baths, impressive Abbey and beautiful Georgian architecture, the city closely associated with author Jane Austen also has plentiful shopping opportunities.

Hampton Court Palace

Students will experience the exciting public dramas and private lives of Henry VIII, his wives and children in the world of the Tudor court. Students will explore the Great Hall, processional route and Tudor kitchens as well as the 60 acres of magnificent ornamental gardens.

Stonehenge

This must-see monument is a powerful testament to human ingenuity, imagination and creativity. Students will experience the unforgettable atmosphere of the Stone Circle and follow in the footsteps of the prehistoric people who lived here 4,000 years ago and walk among the Neolithic houses.

The Royal Pavillion, Brighton

This spectacular seaside palace of King George IV provides a fantastic historical insight for students. The Royal Pavilion mixes Regency grandeur with Indian architecture and Chinese inspired interiors and the nearby Brighton Lanes offer a wide range of exclusive shopping experiences.

Winchester Cathedral

Winchester Cathedral has been a living place of worship and welcome for over 900 years and is one of the finest medieval cathedrals in Europe. Students will learn about its captivating history and magnificent architecture.

HMS Victory

Located in Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard, HMS Victory is one of the most celebrated warships in Britain’s naval history. Students will see HMS Victory through Vice-Admiral Lord Nelson’s eyes as his flagship is presented just as she was in her Georgian heyday. They will explore the Great Cabin where battle plans were drawn up, the lower gun deck and even where sailors and officers ate and slept.

Stratford-upon-Avon

A medieval market town, Stratford is the 16th-century birthplace of William Shakespeare and where The Royal Shakespeare Company performs his plays in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and adjacent Swan Theatre on the banks of the River Avon. Stratford also has many museums and shops to explore.
